Behavioral HealthTherapist III

Description

  The Behavioral Health Therapist III will join a team working in the Southside area of Pittsburgh who are devoted to serving children with autism and developmental disabilities. This team serves over 1200 patients with a staff that includes 8 Clinicians, 2 Nurses and 4 Psychiatrists. Research is also a strong focus item for this team.

 

Masters degree and licensure required (LMFT, LPC or LCSW). Candidates with prior autism experience strongly encouraged to apply. Experience with CBT, running groups and applying evidence base training strongly preferred. Will work closely with the team, but should also be able to work independently. Strong organizational skills a must.

 

The schedule for this opening will be mostly daylight, but will also require some evening hours to meet group needs. Dress code is professional. Parking leases available at a reasonable cost.

 

 



Responsibilities:

 

  • Participates in regular treatment team meetings to discuss clinical cases, review and update patient treatment plans, monitor therapeutic progress and initiate recommendations for referral and continuing care. Provides individual and group therapy to patients in the program and engages families in the assessment and treatment processes when indicated. Provides education to patients on recovery.
  • Maintains daily records of clinical productivity in the program as instructed.
  • Participates in the quality assurance and performance improvement activities of the program.
  • On occasion, assumes supervisory role in the absence of the Supervisor or Director to ensure the care of the patients, the continuity of service delivery and the safety of the patients, staff and community, as instructed
  • Reviews cases and/or groups periodically, as well as serious clinical patient condition changes with supervisor and other clinical personnel as indicated. Discusses need for additional services with the clinical team to determine appropriateness of recommendations. Refers patients to other levels of care, community based self-help programs for recovery or other community social or human services as needed.
  • Documents all assessments, treatment sessions, contacts, case management and other work done on behalf of patients according to guidelines. Completes clinical documentation on the same day of service delivery and provides clinical information to patient access representative personnel and insurance providers to ensure authorization for services.
  • Under guidance of leadership, may conduct direct clinical and administrative supervision of entry level staff or students.
  • Independently conducts assessments of new patients using the identified format for documentation and clinical decisions regarding treatment, interventions and referrals, as instructed. Implements, improves, and adapts concepts, models, and constructs of treatment for application in service delivery to patients.
  • Participates in system wide training and education initiatives outside of the scope of normal clinical responsibilities. Collaborates with leadership to complete annual program training needs assessment per guidelines.
  • Independently demonstrates competency in management of administrative responsibilities associated with patient care with minimal supervision. This may include but not be limited to caseload management, group census, and other administrative tasks.
  • Utilizes a relevant and evidence based approach in the context of the program. Grows clinical skills by learning and implementing new treatment approaches on a regular basis.
  • Takes a senior role in providing staff in-service training to the treatment team, as directed.
  • Creates a treatment plan that includes an effective continuum of therapeutic, supportive and other services for the patients a variety and complexity of needs serviced by the program. Assesses changing needs of patients per guidelines for outpatient and/or partial hospitalization programs, and incorporates these into treatment plan and treatment plan review.
  • Participates in the regulatory and licensure preparation activities on an ongoing basis with program leadership.
  • Is able to work flexible work hours involving 2-3 evenings as necessary.
  • Adheres to all regulatory review and program policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to administer structured clinical assessment tools including measures of psychiatric symptomatology and family functioning.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide assessment, treatment, case management and disposition planning in accordance with CASSP guidelines.
  • Provides formal and informal supervision/training to staff, residents, social work trainees, medical students and trainees of other disciplines as assigned in the use of behavioral management techniques with ASD youth.
  • Attends and incorporates material covered in monthly professional development and staff meetings.
  • Actively participates in supervision which could include written presentation, video /audiotapes and role-plays to be reviewed with supervisor as scheduled.
  • Maintains productivity on a monthly basis.
  • Attends and actively participates in treatment team meetings weekly.
  • Maintains clinical records that meet standards for quality and timely completion.
  • Is able to work well in a multidisciplinary setting and establish excellent professional relationships.
  • Conduct diagnostic evaluations and write evaluations that document all five DSM axes.
  • Achieves the outcomes and satisfaction standards established by the clinic and supervisor.
  • Completes additional tasks when requested by the supervisor.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed of potential problems, difficult situations, and emergencies.
  • Demonstrates being a reliable and responsible employee by arriving on time to meetings and appointments.
  • Provides individual, group, and family treatment with supervision with particular focus on behavioral management with ASD youth.
  • Demonstrates ability to function as consumers' advocate and work collaboratively to link patients to appropriate formal and informal community resources.

 

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education in school counseling, or related field required.
  • Four years of clinical experience diagnosing and treating behavioral and psychiatric conditions required.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of current version of the DSM required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience preferred.

    Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
    Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) is required.

    CCM training is required within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter
