Responsible for the daily management of the Inpatient PT area and training of physical therapists working in the assigned area. Ability to provide patient care consistent with the responsibilities of a physical therapist.

  • Adhere to reporting elements and requirements set forth by all regulatory agencies for patient safety.
  • Identify appropriate orthotic devices and adaptive equipment to be purchased. Fabricate and/or order splints, casts or adaptive equipment utilizing a good understanding of biomechanics and function.
  • Participate in hospital and department performance improvement including development of current protocols and pathways based on evidence in the literature.
  • Demonstrate professional growth and development through participation in dept. in-services, literature discussions, pursuit of knowledge and research relevant to areas of practice.
  • Adhere to the national patient safety goals by planning, directing, and monitoring implementation aspects related to those goals.
  • Provide education in a variety of settings including patients and families. Education opportunities may also include lectures to students, community groups, professional organizations, etc.
  • Coordinate daily operations of the Inpatient Physical Therapy area including schedules, staffing, referrals, equipment needs and use of current assessment and intervention strategies. Includes organization of Weekend inpatient schedule and update weekend procedures as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with Manager of PT & OT, department staff, physicians, nursing staff and all personnel involved with patient care.
  • Adhere to the Patient safety educational aspects.
  • Work with the department manager to develop and monitor financial and marketing plans to grow programs and services.
  • Complete required documentation within specified time frames including patient-related documentation and performance reviews for employees. Work with department manager to revise and update policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to the organization's Patient Safety Plan, goals, and fulfills Patient Safety objectives.
  • Develop and implement an intervention plan as indicated by assessment findings and established goals. Develop a clinical area of specialization in pediatrics to serve as a resource for staff and families.
  • Supervise Physical Therapists including orientation, training, competency assessment, performance reviews and ongoing professional growth and development of therapists.
  • Evaluate patient's functional abilities and disabilities and identify impairments impeding maximum function through objective tests and measures or standardized assessment tools. Establish a treatment plan with functional measurable goals.


  • Master's degree in Physical Therapy.
  • 3 years of experience.
  • Previous pediatric experience in acute care and/or outpatient setting.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • Physical Therapist (PT)
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance
