Promptly reporting to class as assigned

Provide resident care under direct supervision of the Nursing Assistant Instructor

Obtain assignment from Nursing Assistant Instructor

Make rounds to all residents on assignment to make sure the resident has no immediate requests
-
Meet resident needs as identified during rounds
-
Consistently work cooperatively and pleasantly with all staff, residents, family members, and Nursing Assistant Instructor

Follow Resident Rights policies at all times

CNA trainee must maintain confidentiality of information at all times

Breaks and lunches are scheduled as per the Nursing Assistant Instructor
-
The Nursing Assistant Instructor is to make any adjustments to the schedule
-
All students are expected to follow all UPMC policies and procedures

Completion of class to prepare for PA nursing assistant certification exam
-
CNA classes are held at Canterbury Place or Asbury Heights
-
Learn the skills you need to take the CNA certification exam
-
Classes are held Monday through Friday for 18 days, during the daylight shift
-
Four-week program includes classroom and clinical training plus CPR certification
-
Classes and exam fees are paid for by UPMC
-
Perfect attendance and punctuality for the CNA class is required
-
Complete the 8-hour online training by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) or a comparable program, and successfully pass the 50-question test (correctly answering at least 40 out of 50 questions). There is a competency skill list on the AHCA website, and the training is free. Information can be found at the AHCA link.

Completed a Certified Nursing Assistant Trainee class or be in the midst of training and have not yet tested.

Be enrolled as a Student nurse and provide documentation showing evidence of completion of any nursing school course work.
Qualifications
To qualify for potential job opportunities we have, you would need the following:
- High school diploma/GED preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of body mechanics and transfer techniques (Preferred)
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- If entering position as part of CNA training program, employee has 120 days to obtain
- CNA Students entering Nurse Aide Training classes who have residency in PA must have a Photo ID with a PA address.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- Act 34
- OAPSA
