UPMC Altoona's Surgical Trauma Unit is seeking a Registered Nurse to support our team on a casual basis.
Tower 14 surgical trauma is a 23-bed medical surgical unit specializing in care of adult post-surgical and low acuity trauma patients. We are the unit of choice for abdominal surgeries, including, but not limited to colon resections, cholecystectomies, and appendectomies, as well as general medical cases such as sepsis, renal insufficiency, respiratory conditions, pancreatitis, and acute on chronic illness.

Purpose:
Provides direct and indirect care to patients utilizing the nursing process. Provides leadership for the nursing team, and contributes to the education of a variety of members of the staff and students.
Responsibilities:
- Document/records appropriate information required in performance of responsibilities in relation to the job description.
- General nursing ability.
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to adapt to clinical treatment and instructional aspect of care to all stages of the life cycle and to various states of health and disease.
Qualifications
Minimum 1 year experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 34
