Analytics Data Integration Developer- Associate

UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for an Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate for their HEDIS Production and Quality Analytics Department. This is a Monday through Friday position and will be based out of downtown Pittsburgh, PA.

 

The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate is responsible for the management of internal quality analytics data for various quality analytics projects. In this role, you will support the creation, enhancement, documentation, validation and dissemination of quality analytics data for internal analysis and clinic evaluation. The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate understands the organization of evaluation-level data and has the ability to translate disparate internal data sources into research quality sources for program evaluation. The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate will serve as a process expert. You will act as project lead on data analysis projects as well as function as critical team support to other staff as needed. In this role you will use your knowledge and expert understanding of data, data systems, engineering systems, statistical software applications, clinical data, and other information generated by numerous sources to identify opportunities to improve clinical program performance through internal analysis of health economics data. 

 

The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate will provide insights into HEDIS & Quality data to various areas of UPMC Health Plan. The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert in the HEDIS measure data as well as providing the ability to gather information and answer questions for other areas. The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate works as part of a highly cohesive team to deliver advanced analytics and actionable information to the organization. 

 

This person will be responsible for managing their workload to meet deadlines and expectations of working with the rest of the team on development, as well as QC activities. Additionally, they will serve as a subject matter expert and provide training and support to other staff as needed. The Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate must use their knowledge and expert understanding of analytics, clinical data, and other information generated by numerous sources to identify opportunities to improve clinical and HEDIS rates performance. The ideal candidate will have to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders throughout the organization and excel at communicating complex concepts, ideas, and findings.


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and distribute work assignments as needed.
  • Implement and monitor effectiveness of these solutions.
  • Identify departmental needs and report to management as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the orientation of new staff members.
  • Serve as technical resource and subject matter expert in HEDIS measure data.
  • Complete projects related to data warehousing, data analytics, data visualization, and quality control.
  • Investigate variances and errors in data and derive solutions.
  • Execute analytic plans for health economic data preparation and modification, program evaluation, feasibility studies, and research studies as needed.
  • Manage routine & special projects which may require oversight of other departments' work and coordination of a wide variety of functions.
  • Perform peer reviews as requested.
  • Maintain policies and procedures of the team / department.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with internal Health Plan departments, and external contacts as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain internal health economics data for internal statistical analysis and modeling and be able to explain these activities to a sophisticated analytic audience as well as translate these activities into general terms for non-technical audiences and senior management.
  • Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by managers and department director (these deadlines and turnaround times will, at times, require the employee to work until the project is completed, meaning extended daily work hours, extended work weeks, or both).
  • Identify and summarize basic characteristics in data and trends in data patterns related to health economic metrics and other indicators.
  • Adhere to internal Division of Health Economics work processes.
  • Construct business cases based on analyses of data and data needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in information systems, data management, healthcare management, business, or related field.
  • Master's or other advanced degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of work experience in information technology, healthcare, business, or research is required. 
  • Experience in health insurance or healthcare industry is preferred, but those with relevant experience in other industries may be considered.
  • Data and Technology Experience and technical proficiency in SQL and/or SAS programming is required.
  • Experience with other programming languages used in data science (such as R) is valuable.
  • Extensive experience in other programming languages may be considered.
  • Experience with extraction and manipulation of large, complex data sets is required.
  • Experience managing/preparing data sets for use in analysis, modeling, or business operations is required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products (particularly Excel) is required.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (such as Tableau, QlikView, or PowerBI) is valuable.
  • Experience with geo-mapping software (such as ArcGIS) is valuable. Other Work SkillsIntermediate-level problem-solving skills are required.
  • The ability to effectively communicate issues and results, verbally and in writing, is required.
  • The ability to use effective time management skills, including prioritization multiple tasks, is necessary for success.
  • Attention to detail is critically important in this role.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, ambiguous/fluid environment.
  • A strong customer/stakeholder focus is expected at all times.
  • The successful Analytics Data Integration Developer, Associate is a team player that displays professionalism at all times.
  • Ability to work extra hours if required.
