Description
Purpose:
Maintains System buildings, equipment and grounds. The hours are every other weekend 12-hour day shift, with three evening shifts during the week.
Responsibilities:
- Perform technical services to building systems including but not limited to HVAC, plumbing and complex electrical systems.
- Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
- Perform carpentry activities as they relate to either repair, renovation or construction
- Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance of the heating system and associated equipment
- Transport System equipment and supplies. Operate cars, light trucks and maintenance equipment.
- Perform testing, calibration, preventive maintenance and repair equipment included in the equipment management inventory according to established policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information with no infractions.
- Demonstrate dependability, reliability and independent judgment recognizing priorities to accommodate department needs and acceptance of appropriate authority.
- Practice universal blood/body fluid precautions.
- Present self in a positive manner reflected by personal attire and etiquette.
- Operate all components of the utility systems, knows location and function of controls and shutoff, knows all utility system failure procedures.
- Establish and maintains good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff,co-workers, supervisors and others.
- Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others
- Paint and installs/repairs vinyl wall covering. Repair wall surfaces prior to application of finishes.
- Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and equipment.
- Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance of communication systems.
- Maintain, repair, install and perform preventive maintenance on numerous types of miscellaneous equipment.
- Perform job functions with consideration to thoroughness, accuracy and neatness, effect on patients and others; demonstrating technical knowledge and competence.
- Project a positive image of self and the Hospital when dealing with medical staff, ancillary departments, patients/families, community and others.
- Perform security functions when required.
- Promote the hospital's image and maintains a positive and helpful attitude toward employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the hospital's reputation as a health care center.
- Perform plumbing installation, repair and preventive maintenance involving the domestic water and waste systems as well as the medical gas and vacuum systems
- Perform installation, repair and preventive maintenance on the electrical distribution system, lighting system and electrically operated equipment.
- Demonstrate cost consciousness through efficient use of time, materials, staff, equipment, supplies and available resources
- Adhere to department policy and procedure manuals.
- Perform maintenance to the grounds including snow/ice removal during the winter season.
- Maintain professional, pleasant and effective communications both internally and externally.
Qualifications
HS or GED. Trade or vocational school graduate preferred. 2 year college associate degree preferred. May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
