Description

UPMC is currently hiring for a Dev Ops System Engineer to join the Enterprise Infrastructure (ETI)  Application Engineering Team. The ETI Application Engineering team performs Dev Ops engineering and Platform management for a variety of enterprise applications within UPMC shuch as: Enterprise Datalake (Cloudera Hadoop), the Interoperability / Health Informatica Exchange platforms , Enterprise Integration platforms ( IBM Integration Bus, WebSphere MQ and Informatica) and Enterprise Workflow Automation Platforms (Automic and IBM WebSphere Business Application Workflow) along with Dev Ops Continuous Integration development and platforms (GitHub, Jenkins and other development tool).

Responsibilities:

  • Core technology concepts - Responsible for showing a basic understanding of designated technologies and their use. Demonstrates the initiative to learn internal processes and procedures.
  • Project Management - Complete basic project-related tasks and tasks delegated by more senior members of the team. Responsible for time tracking and updating documentation.
  • Maintenance/Upgrades - Follow documented procedures for maintenance and upgrades. Responsible for assisting with Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • End user support - Complete basic documented tasks related to end user support.
  • Communication - Responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day to day work and projects.
  • Troubleshooting/Critical Thinking - Ability to resolve basic issues or offer input on issue resolution.
  • Self Development - Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with more senior members of team, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends. Seeks feedback from senior team members for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviors.
  • Interactions with Others - Successfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts. Shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary.

 

Qualifications

  • Typically has familiarity with complex systems environments through education or practical experience.
  • Experience preferred: Linux, RHEL, Windows Operating System, Oracle, SQL Server, PowerShell and Python
  • Ability to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols.
  • Willingness to learn and gain exposure with new technologies and applications
  • Must have excellent communication skills and be able to work within a team dynamic
  • Once established in the role, the candidate will be on call once every eight weeks
