Responsibilities: 

  • Perform patient care skill as directed by the RN/LPN in a safe manner according to policy and procedure 
  • Respond directly to patient requests and appropriately communicate the patient needs 
  • Assist with food distribution and feeding residents 
  • Assist with bathing, oral hygiene, shaving, nail care, hair care, and dressing
  • Assist in transferring residents 
  • Document in the medical record according to established procedures

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Working experience as aide in hospital or nursing home preferred 
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and ability to operate medical equipment, utilizing all safety procedures 
  • Willingness to learn federal, state and local nursing home regulations as they relate to medical personnel and care of residents
  • Willingness to learn infection control and standard precautions and the ability to apply same to essential job functions
  • Successfully complete on the job orientation/training program

Licensure/Certifications: 
  • Current PA Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required 
  • Older Adult Protective Services Act 
  • Act 34 Criminal Clearance 
  • CPR within 30 days of beginning employment
