Research Assistant

Description

Purpose:
The Research Assistant provides support as needed to the department. Performs literature searches and assists in the preparation of professional manuscripts and grant proposals and will also be responsible for data collection, entry, and management. The Reasearch Assistant will be working under Helmet Karim, assistant professor of Psychiatry and Bioengineering, whose work focuses on identifying markers of treatment response in major depressive disorder. His recent grant will focus on recruiting patients who are undergoing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) for an MRI study. The employee will be conducting phone screens (calling patients to determine eligibility for our study), conducting informed consent for studies, conducting in-person clinical assessments/questionnaires, facilitating MRI data collection, updating Institutional Review Board (IRB) changes, collecting data using REDCap database and modifying the REDCap database as needed, conducting weekly reports on recruitment, and conducting quality control checks on MRI data.

This position is grant funded. 


Responsibilities:

  • Organize references and materials for research projects and content areas.
  • Maintain professionalism in all interactions with stakeholders and internal staff.
  • Conduct literature searches.
  • Provide support for grant proposal and manuscript development and submission.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings and seminars, both internally and externally.
  • Perform data collection and entry.
  • Assist in data management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field, or current enrollment, with some experience in research environment.
  • Experience in the area of public health, psychology, applied research or behavioral health is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and the ability to learn various software packages as needed.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 34 with renewal
