Description
The Translational Neuropsychiatry Through Neuromodulation Laboratory (PI: Dr. Khaled Moussawi, MD, PhD) studies the neurobiology of drug addiction and the effects of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) on brain circuits in rodents. The lab is in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. The Research Associate Sr WPIC will be running a scientific project and performing experiements that involve animal behavior, caring for animal colonies, immunohistochemistry, electrophysiology, and brain stimulation. The Research Associate Sr WPIC will also independently execute job functions for research protocol(s), and mentor, train, & assist with supervising junior research staff.
Responsibilities:
- Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, collecting data from subjects, assist with preparation of scientific articles, assist with data analysis, assist with IRB and grant submissions as needed.
- Mentor, train, and assist with supervising junior research staff.
Qualifications
- Masters degree required preferably in psychology, neuroscience, counseling, sociology, or related research field.
- Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
- Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
