Research Associate WPIC


This Regular Full-Time position will support a NIH-funded research program that focuses on understanding sleep-related factors that increase the risk of substance use in adolescence (the Center for Sleep and Circadian Science). This position is responsible for overseeing participant recruitment, enrollment, and retention. This includes regular and effective communication with participants, their families, research, and administrative staff related to the Center's research programs. This is a position with hours primarily during Monday – Friday daylight hours, but with evening/weekend hours as required by research activities. The ideal candidate is highly organized; detail-oriented; and possesses strong interpersonal skills including teamwork, dependability, flexibility, and leadership. 

This position is grant funded.


To coordinate research study recruitment for NIH-funded research program investigating sleep.  Collect and gather research data for research project.


  • Coordinate participant recruitment, including advertisements, tracking recruitment, and developing strategies to increase response in targeted populations.
  • Communicate effectively with investigators and staff.
  • In conjunction with the study coordinator, will be responsible for initial telephone screening of participants, scheduling participants for in-person eligibility evaluations, and guiding them through screening/baseline interview visits.
  • Recruit and enroll participants, conduct study visits, and follows subjects through study completion.
  • Coordinate scheduling of assessments.
  • Maintain compliance with IRB regulations.
  • Conduct laboratory research data procedures as required.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to ensure adequate numbers of assessments as outlined in the protocol.
  • Perform other research duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in psychology, sociology, or related research field.
  • Previous experience with adolescents and/or families is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings (including potentially some Sundays).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
