As the Director, Revenue Cycle Information Systems you will support various functions of revenue cycle activities through multiple workflows like registration, hospital billing, scheduling, applications and much more!

This role will work directly with the Vice President of Applications. You will also get to work collaboratively with leadership in Information Systems, Finance, Physician and Professional Services, Human Resources, Health Information Management, and other departments throughout the organization as appropriate to integrate and evaluate business processes and systems that support business operations and management.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and supports staff to optimize IT Systems to support the acquisition and growth of UPMC Pinnacle.
  • Understands technology trends and government initiatives related to healthcare and business operations.
  • Works closely with the Chief Information Officer and representative (Senior) Vice President, Director and Manager level customers to develop the information strategic plan.
  • Analyzes and alters staffing patterns to meet the changing needs of business informatics and organization overall.
  • Interfaces with leadership to identify business and financial information needs to support overall operations of the lines of services supported.
  • Interviews, selects, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports and related resources supplied through Managed Services agreement(s).
  • Maintains confidentiality of clinical and personnel information in keeping with policies of UPMC Pinnacle.
  • Demonstrates effective problem solving and willingness to adapt to a changing environment.
  • Maintains open, productive communication with the Chief Information Officer and representatives throughout the organization and in the community.
  • Conducts regular meetings with staff to ensure timely, relevant dissemination of information, identification of concerns, and active problem solving of pertinent issues.
  • Promotes and maintains positive, productive partnerships inter- and intradepartmental to encourage effective collaboration. Provides consultation related to processes and clinical information systems.
  • Utilizing the principles of Six Sigma, monitors systems, analyzes processes, evaluates outcomes, and recommends revisions.
  • Ensures that appropriate systems are in place to support the revenue cycle staff.
  • Responsible for the development of short and long range goals consistent with the mission, vision, and values.
  • Reviews resource utilization and budget activities to ensure compliance with budget parameters including oversight of related expenses resident in the general Information Services budget.
  • Integrates appropriate business and financial practice standards when planning and implementing systems.
  • Understands the business fundamentals and drivers of the financial and operational success of UPMC Pinnacle.
  • Develops and revises administrative policies and procedures related to the business and financial information systems.
 

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related Health Care field with ten (10) years progressive experience in health care finance or operations OR
  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration with fifteen (15) years progressive experience in health care finance or operations.  
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Must have experience with process improvement and project management.

Preferences:

  • Epic experience preferred.
  • Revenue Cycle experience and knowledge preferred. 


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
