Description

We are in search of a highly motivated Senior Value Analysis Specialist who is ready to take their career to the next level! The Value Analysis Program is responsible for directing a clinically focused and user driven, financially responsible product evaluation and selection process.

The Senior Value Analysis Specialist supports UPMC's best practices and established processes, policies and procedures for product introduction, review, analysis and communication; coordinates with Supply Chain and Clinical staff in the identification of substitute products to ensure acceptable medical/surgical supplies are available to Hospital medical staff at all times; and participates as a facilitator in cross-functional teams involved in the investigation and evaluation of new and/or existing medical/surgical products to decrease product use variation and costs through the development of consensus supply utilization programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.*Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Attends annual Hospital and departmental fire/safety and infection control training and maintains current knowledge of safety procedures within the Hospital and department.
  • Educates physicians, nurses and other medical Hospital personnel to principles of inventory control and Supply Chain Management practices.
  • Acts as a liaison between Supply Chain Management and the medical staff to communicate the issues of substitute supplies, vendor changes to existing medical supplies, and the introduction of new products.
  • In conjunction with Supply Chain sourcing, develops communication plans and product introduction plans to ensure smooth introduction of new products into the system, and assesses and validates that each product or standardization effort reaches successful completion.
  • Facilitates and participates as a member of cross functional teams involved in the investigation and evaluation of new and/or existing medical/surgical products.
  • Educates members of cross functional teams on the principles of Value Analysis to achieve best practices.
  • Provides supportive consultation to the UPMC system in the procurement and use of medical products and surgical supplies. Assists Category Leads and Managers in working with vendors to coordinate, schedule, and conduct reviews of new products in support of contracting and expense management efforts.
  • Facilitates efforts to coordinate with Supply Chain and Clinical staff in the identification of substitute products to ensure acceptable medical/surgical supplies are available to Hospital medical staff at all times.
  • Working with clinical subject matter experts, identifies and communicates clinical product standards across the UPMC System.
  • Facilitates, coordinates and communicates the evaluation and selection of new products, supplies or equipment within the UPMC Health System as requested or in conjunction with the UPMC Supply Chain contracting efforts. Utilizes evidence ad clinical outcomes to assist in the decision-making process.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing; RN with 5 years clinical experience required, 7 years preferred.
  • Master's degree in Business Administration preferred.
  • Proven knowledge base of materials supplies and equipment within clinical departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills and demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time accordingly.Experience with, or knowledge of resources used for evidence-based literature searches.
