Network Security Engineer - Associate

An Associate Network Security Engineer is responsible for the daily operations of securing the data transport network. This individual will be responsible for the implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, and they will enforce network security policies and compliance activities. This is an entry-level position within Network Security. The candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of core IT knowledge in networking and firewalls.

  • Triage issues and escalate to Network Security SME's and Management as necessary
  • Conduct Network Security operations, including: Firewall exception processing Password Changes Tier 2 troubleshooting
  • Manage: Palo Alto, Juniper and Cisco firewalls Site-to-Site VPN's DDoS Network Admission Control
  • Deploy new firewalls and Site-to-Site VPN's
  • Create new Managed Objects for DDoS prevention
  • Maintain electronic documentation: Network diagrams Processes / Procedures Inventory (CMDB)


  • Typically has a 2-year academic degree or certification and knowledge of Network Security through education or practical work experience.
  • Understanding of: TCP/IP Network & Application Layer Firewall technologies
  • Ability to: Manage complex firewall policies Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Participate in the On-Call rotation - Candidate will be on call every 5th or 6th week
This position will primarily be remote. Hiring team will discuss long term plans for continued remote work along with the possibility of travel once a year.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Preferred: An entry level certification (Cisco CCENT, Security+, Palo Alto PCCSA, etc.) or other approved IT certificate.
