Description

We're searching for a Senior Human Resources Consultant to join our International team!  This is a regular, full-time position based out of the US Steel Tower in downtown Pittsburgh.  The schedule is primarily daylight hours, however early morning and evening flexibility is required to account for the difference in time zones while supporting our International partners.  A perk of the position includes some remote work flexibility!

In this role, the Senior HR Consultant will function as a culturally competent, proactive, and driven HR business partner providing day-to-day support to the business, operations, and in-country HR teams. This position will require the ability to work at a fast pace on projects and deliverables that are not always well-defined. Using previous experience in areas of talent acquisition, workforce administration, talent management, project coordination and employee engagement, this position will support the International HR Director in driving the implementation and consistency of HR initiatives and strategies across the UPMC International footprint.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead business objectives with employees and management, serving as a sr. business partner to management on HR-related issues and acts as a change agent. Accountable for managing and delivering HR programs and services within the organization.  Identify areas of opportunity and possible solutions/improvements related to policy, procedures, communications and HR operations.
  • Understand how domestic UPMC processes and initiatives can be adapted for global leverage, reinforcing a ‘Think Global, Act Local’ philosophy. Proactively partner with domestic COEs to identify opportunities for global leverage of domestic programs and resources.
  • Confidently assess and create plans of actions for tasks that are undefined or ambiguous in nature.
  • Partner with leaders to provide and implement HR initiatives that support management and employees across the organization.  Partner with Global Mobility Manager and in-country HR leads to ensure seamless assignment administration.
  • Collaborate with HR team to design and plan interventions that facilitate organizational changes.
  • Provides leadership and mentorship within the HR department and oversee HR staff as needed.  Coach leaders to accelerate leadership effectiveness and maximize results and facilitate leader assimilation (new hire, talent acquisition, and internal movement).
  • Drive change management practices to enable organizational effectiveness and foster a diversity & inclusion strategy that will maximize our competitive advantage and skills of the workforce.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
  • Participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization forward and towards meeting its strategic goals.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge and upgrade business acumen, to stay abreast of industry trends. Demonstrate capabilities and professional knowledge, and the ability to assimilate new knowledge.
  • Collaborate with HR business and operational leaders to identify education gaps and development opportunities for management and employees. Partners with management to provide consultation on coaching and mentorship for staff.
  • Review or create processes, policies, and procedures across the global HR function to drive efficiency and consistency in administration
  • Coordinate employee engagement efforts and other UPMC activities across multiple countries.  In support of HR team and organizational business needs, utilize HR metrics to develop and implement initiatives that positively impact the organization and the employee experience.
  • Conduct new hire orientation for US-based hires. Act as the point of contact for new hire onboarding questions.
  • Under the direction of the Director, International Talent Acquisition, assist in recruitment marketing and talent acquisition efforts across Ireland, Italy, and China. This may include vendor management, coordination, and tracking.
  • Serve as the HR Direct subject matter expert by driving the performance management process, sharing best practices, and troubleshooting questions from the business.
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field is required and at least three year of employee relations experience required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local legislation as it applies to human resources and the employment process is required.
  • Experience with full cycle human resources is preferred, i.e. recruitment, on-boarding, learning and development, compensation, etc.
  • Oracle/PeopleSoft experience preferred.
  • Global experience is preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within the first year of hire for external candidates.

Internal applicants within UPMC HR are required to have the certification requirements in place to be considered for promotional opportunities.
