Claims Examiner, Workers Compensation - Temporary


UPMC Health Plan is hiring a temporary Claims Examiner- Workers Compensation to help support the WorkPartners Claims Department for its downtown Pittsburgh location at the US Steel Tower. This is a Monday through Friday daylight position. This role is a mix of in-person and remote. 

The successful candidate will investigate and analyze the information for a reported workers' compensation claim. Ongoing management of a medical only claim to include compensability determinations (restricted medical only and widow claims at the discretion of the claims supervisor). Provide customer service to injured workers, clients and providers.


  • Set up claims that are received from the client’s within a 24 hour period.
  • Maintain employee confidentiality and privacy
  • Maintain excellent relationship with clients.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide ideas, suggestions and feedback to promote effective program management.
  • Perform job duties and responsibilities in accordance to Work Partners Claims Management Standards
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or manager.
  • Provide clerical and technical support to the team to achieve operational goals.
  • Maintain the daily error’s reports.
  • Maintain the NCOF( No claim on File) queue.  



  • High School Diploma Strongly Preferred
  • Post-secondary education is preferred
  • One year of administrative support working experience is highly preferred
  • Must have proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook and Powerpoint
  • Must possess typing skills and working knowledge of word processing, electronic mail/calendar and spreadsheets
  • Must possess the ability to learn and effectively use various software programs
  • General knowledge and experience with office equipment such as copiers, multi-line phone systems, fax machines and paging systems
