Patient Care Technician - EIC Program

Description

UPMC is hiring full-time Patient Care Technicians for a training program. If hired, you will be enrolled in a four week long, hands on, paid training program. The training is held during daylight hours, Monday through Friday only. After the training program, your full time PCT position will require rotating availability - including daylight, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts.

Upon successful completion of the training program, you will be offered a full-time position at one of our four urban hospitals. Your full-time placement will be at UPMC Presbyterian, Shadyside, Mercy, or Magee Hospitals - and candidates must be open to all locations. 


Job Responsibilities
  • Attend the four-week training program to learn the following skills/duties 
  • UPMC nursing core Nursing Assistant responsibilities of blood glucose, weights, vital signs, intake and output, specimen collections and foley care 
  • At least four of the following tasks: phlebotomy, 12 lead EKG, simple dressing, foley catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scan, straight catheter, or IV catheter removal. 
  • Activities of daily living and medical record documentation 
  • Comply with all EIC PCT Training Program policies and procedures, including safety, personal conduct, and dress code

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must attend EIC training program if no previous hospital or pre-hospital training
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
