Research Associate WPIC



This is a full-time Research Associate position responsible for performing research-related and administrative functions in support of a clinical trial being conducted in 24 pediatric practices affiliated with the Medical Home program of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP-PA). The providers in these practices will be trained to deliver an evidence-based intervention program (Doctor Office Collaborative Care, DOCC) for young children (5-12 years old) and their parents with challenging behaviors and comorbid Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as their caregivers. Practice staff including the primary behavioral health resource, all primary care providers, the lead physician/medical director, and the practice manager, will deliver this intervention program or support its delivery. The study will evaluate the impact of team and leadership level strategies designed to facilitate the implementation of DOCC. Our treatment research program has a team-focused, collegial atmosphere where people enjoy working together and supporting each other's efforts. 

This position will involve contact with study participants, scheduling appointments, administering research questionnaires, follow-up of study participants, collecting, entering and verifying data, assisting in quality control procedures and general clinical research assistance. Most tasks will be conducted remotely (e.g., videoconference, phone/text) and will rely upon different technologies (e.g., Zoom, MS TEAMS). The Research Associate will maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings, in order to meet the needs of the participants and study.

This position is grant funded.


  • Explain research protocol and obtain informed consent from participants as needed.
  • For participants who must (or prefer to) complete the consent and assessment processes by phone or by mail, RA will be the primary point of contact for these processes.
  • Contact and schedule participants who have agreed to be contacted for the study.
  • Conduct subject searches to locate subjects who are unable to be contacted.
  • Maintain and update subject information database.
  • Perform phone interviews for research project protocol(s) as needed.
  • Conduct interviews with research participants under supervision as needed.
  • Will work closely with the Interventionists, organizing study material and entering Facilitator Log of Attendance and Participation data.
  • Participate in study initiation procedures and conduct a virtual visit to orient each practice to the study before REP training.
  • Forward project brochures and all study correspondence, respond to participants inquiries and requests, maintain individual case/research files, and monitor assessments.
  • Maintain subject contact information, making sure it is up to date and complete.
  • Will check submitted audio files against fidelity guidelines, grading this audio to determine participants’ fidelity to the intervention model.
  • Conduct on-line and/or library searches as needed by the PI as necessary.
  • Responsible for distributing all participant payments and will be overseen in this capacity by Program Manager.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Bachelors degree required preferably in psychology or related field.
  • At least one year of experience working directly with children and/or their families is preferred.
  • Knowledge of research methodology is strongly preferred.
  • Prior research experience, including conducting assessments, is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, and ability to prioritize among multiple tasks.
  • Must have proficiency at a mastery level of the following: Microsoft Office Package including but not limited to Word, Power Point, Excel and Microsoft Outlook required.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
