Description
Purpose:
Is primarily responsible for assisting in the day-to-day activities of the department as assigned by the Reimbursement Director or Reimbursement Manager. Must have a working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and reimbursement regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares cost/statistical reports and supporting work papers, including the following:
- Third-party cost reports for UPMC Pinnacle Hospitals (Medicare, Medical Assistance, TRICARE) and for The Pennsylvania Psychiatric Institute (Medicare, Medical Assistance).
- Maintains current knowledge of reimbursement regulations and generally accepted accounting principles through research.
- Analyzes, researches, and prepares responses to inquiries from third party and independent auditors.
- Prepares special projects as requested by the Manager or Director.
- Prepares monthly files for the calculation of the Disproportionate Share Adjustment payment.
- Prepares reports obtained from the Decision Support System to assist in the preparation of the Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
- Prepare quarterly files required under the PA Worker's Compensation regulations
- Updates the Intern & Resident files with monthly resident activity.
- Reimbursement Analysis: Prepares reimbursement analysis for System management and departmental managers as requested by Manager or Director.
- Administrative: Attends staff meetings. Assists in updating Policy and Procedure Manual. Communicates timely with appropriate staff members.
- Participates in cross-training.
- Keeps abreast of operational decisions as they affect reimbursement or budget analysis.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Daily contact with management, staff, employees in various System departments. Frequent contact with System Management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting required, substitution of an associate degree with a candidacy for Bachelor of Science plus extensive experience will be considered.
- Minimum of three years in healthcare accounting experience required.
- Experience with personal computers required.
- Good oral and written communication skills required.
- Possess technical and professional accounting skills.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
