Description

UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside seeks a Medical Dosimetrist to  be involved in all aspects of patient care performing all medical dosimetry tasks; responsible for designing a treatment plan, using a computer or manual computation, that will deliver the prescribed radiation dose to the patient after Radiation Oncologist consults with patient, determines treatment plan; responsible for specialized radiation dose distribution calculations according to the physician’s prescription given to a cancer patient while taking into consideration the dose-limiting structures, such as the eye when treating the brain, the heart when treating the lung, or the spinal cord when it is included in the treatment field; responsible for generating an optimal treatment plan that will create a balance between delivering the prescription the physician has written while ensuring the patient will not lose important healthy organ function; participate in treatment simulation including providing assistance with patient immobilization and positioning.

• Participate in treatment simulation including providing assistance with patient immobilization and positioning.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications and Licensure/Certification:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Dosimetry, Radiologic Sciences, or a related field
• Must be certified by the American Association of Medical Dosimetrists (AAMD) or be eligible to sit for AAMD certification exam
• Telecommuting permissible.
