Description
Purpose:
The mental health services coordinator will be responsible for coordinating mental health referrals of the children who come to the CRC including assessing children and families using trauma assessment tools, recommending mental health services based on level of trauma, and identifying needs such as housing, food, etc. The individual will also need to help connect families to resources to meet identified needs. Also will need to refer families to mental health providers who are trained in TF-CBT, and tracking data relating to referrals.
Responsibilities:
- Must be optimistic, enthusiastic, and communicate effectively at all levels. Must have good organizational and writing skills and possess confidence in speaking before large groups. Must work constructively and cooperatively in a team environment, reflecting concern for patient, employee and team member wellbeing. Must be able to communicate effectively and interact with team members reflecting diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. The Child Interview Specialist must be emotionally prepared, on a daily basis, to interact with child abuse victims and their families. The Child Interview Specialist must be non-judgmental and non-reactive to issues of abuse during patient and family interactions.
- Provides coverage for non-traditional hours as necessary.
- Assists with administrative duties, as requested by the Manager of the CRC.
- Communicates and cooperates with administration and other departments to implement clinical services and activities. Assists with public awareness and fundraising campaigns to increase the community?s knowledge and support of services provided.
- Develop guidelines to delineate how mental health services differ from the forensic interview process and communicating those guidelines to team members.
- Track data relating to referrals.
- Refer families to mental health providers in the county in which they live who, are trained in TF-CBT;
- Identify and implement a trauma assessment too for administration to all children who are seen at the CRC;
- Develop Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) with the providers;
- Identify mental health providers in service area who are trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
- Coordinate mental health referrals of the children who come to the CRC
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work and three years of experience in the field of child abuse and family violence will be considered in lieu of a Master's degree.
- Experience working with teams.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
