Lead Research Project Coordinator, WPIC

Description

Purpose:
The Center for Sleep and Circadian Science lab is seeking a full time Lead Research Project Coordinator, located at Western Psychiatric Hospital on the 11th floor. This position will provide senior level coordination, support, and management for a large multi-investigator, multi-project research program.

This position is grant funded.


Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the daily activities and special projects for the research program.
  • Provides input towards hiring decisions and performance evaluations.
  • Prepare and modify IRB protocols, Regulatory Binders, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of project spending and funds available.
  • Assist investigators in the submission of regular reports detailing the progress of the research, including NIH progress reports.
  • Communicate effectively with research, clinical, and administrative staff related to this research program.
  • Coordinate participant recruitment and tracking, and develop strategies to enhance recruitment in targeted populations.
  • Assist with quality assurance over all aspects of data collection and management, including data flow, data entry and verification, maintenance of all project databases, data security and confidentiality.
  • Mentor, train, and supervise research staff.
  • Provide advanced level research/administrative/and project management support for the research program.
  • Coordinate scheduling of research assessments.
  • Coordinate data preparation to assist investigators with presentations, manuscripts, reports, etc.
  • Coordinate the workflow of staff, work study, volunteers and other study personnel.
  • Screening of potential research participants. Screening activities involve telephoning potential study participants, obtaining information pertinent to study eligibility, and determining interest in study participation.
  • Assist in data collection procedures, including online, in-person, and laboratory data collection. Instruct participants on online data collection procedures. Monitor and assess their level of understanding of the assessments and provide clarification as needed.
  • Assist and collaborate with other personnel to facilitate smooth flow of information between study personnel.
  • Assess participants as required by research protocols. Assessment activities include preparing and sending screening information, administration of research instruments, and verification of completeness of data collected during the screening and subsequent research visits.
  • Recruit participants into ongoing research protocols. Recruitment activities include distributing advertisements (physical and electronic), presenting research studies to eligible participants, working with various advertising methods and outlets, and social media.
  • Complete data entry in a timely manner.
  • Track participants and data. Tracking activities include scheduling and confirmation of appointments, mailing study materials, and providing reminders to participants about study
  • Successfully complete and pass on-line CITI training and mandatory ULearn training modules as required by UPMC.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, business administration or related area of study required.
  • Five years of relevant research and/or clinical experience with two years of project management experience required.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred. Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Products). Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Prefer prior experience working with adolescents.
  • Occasional evening, night and/or weekend hours required.
