Description

Our UPMC Corporate Quality team is searching for a Quality Data Analytics Expert - CRP to join the team!  This is a regular, full-time position that primarily works daylight hours, Monday through Friday, onsite and from your home office.

In this role, the Quality Data Analytics Expert leads project teams that design, manage, conduct, and present comprehensive analyses of quality and financial data related to UPMC and government quality programs. This role requires extensive project management skills as well as expert-level knowledge of complex quality issues, appropriate methods and data sources for analyses, and resources available across UPMC to build multidisciplinary teams. Quality issues will include but are not limited to costs of quality events and interventions; data validity; government quality programs, such as Value-Based Purchasing and Episode-Based Payment Initiatives; operational quality reporting to support UPMC Service Lines; patient safety; patient experience; clinical outcomes registries; and quality research. Methods and data sources will include but are not limited to advanced statistic methods, statistical process control, quality improvement, clinical data, quality data, and financial data. This role will require the ability to identify and work with appropriate departments across UPMC, including quality, IT, finance, revenue cycle, Enterprise and Clinical Analytics, and clinical departments, to identify necessary resources and stakeholders to complete complex projects. Leads teams of Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, and stakeholders from other departments. This requires previous experience with team leadership and project management to autonomously complete initiate and complete projects identified by senior leadership in the department. The Expert will also take part in identification of opportunities to improve quality, clinical, or financial performance. The team leadership role will require the Expert to provide direction, training and assistance to team members as needed. Project management will require the Expert to identify stakeholders, goals, scope, deliverables, and milestones and manage each aspect of the process to completion. The Expert will also be a key spokesperson for the department and must have a professional presence at all times.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Translate complex technical results into decision quality information for both technical and non-technical audiences internal and external to the company.
  • Identify trends in expenses, utilization, medical quality, and other areas.
  • Investigate variances and derive solutions to cost increases and quality issues.
  • Design and perform cost/benefit analysis.
  • Design, perform, and interpret statistical, financial, and programmatic analyses.
  • Meet deadlines and turnaround times set by managers and department director (these deadlines and turnaround times will, at times, require the employee to work until the project is completed, meaning extended daily work hours, extended work weeks, or both).
  • Lead teams of analysts to complete complex projects.
  • Manage projects from initiation to completion, setting and managing the goals, scope, deliverables, milestones, and completion of the project.
  • Design, implement, and monitor effectiveness of these solutions.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Biostatistics, engineering, health care management or a related field and five years of experience.
    • OR Master's degree or successful completion of the Financial Management Rotation program and three years of experience.
  • Superior computer skills are a must, with knowledge in SQL and relevant software packages such as, but not limited to, Cognos, Stata, R, SPSS, MS Excel and Access.
  • Strong technical writing skills are preferred.
  • Experience with governmental regulatory reporting is required.
  • Incumbent must demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, autonomy and initiative on a daily basis.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment is a must.
  • Will need to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
  • Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, with demonstrated competency in customer orientation and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent project management, planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem solving abilities required.
  • Ability to interpret and summarize results of various analyses in a timely and meaningful way.
  • Ability to effectively approach problem solving.
  • Ability to monitor project progress and communicate interim and final results to senior management.
  • Ability to re-engineer processes to positively impact productivity in terms of timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing.
