Quality Analyst - Senior

Description

Purpose:

The Analytics and Outcomes Department partners with clinical and business leaders and staff to improve processes and tools, develop insightful analyses, support benchmarking and regulatory reporting requirements, and continuously improve the overall analytics capabilities of the organization.

This senior level position requires experienced analytical skills, partners with clinical and operational staff to highlight opportunities for process improvements, defines requirements and use cases, develops analyses and data visualizations based on disparate information, validates and presents results, performs project management activities, and generally provides services to meet clinical and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with clinical, operational, and technical staff to identify problems and propose solutions
  • Organize and promote quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain project planning documents, prepare materials, and write and distribute high level workflow documents
  • Ensure that the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information is protected through physical and electronic measures.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve ability to report on executive, regulatory, and internal metrics /KPIs
  • Develop analyses and data visualizations using available tools such as Microsoft Excel based on data from a variety of sources and tools (eg Epic, Cerner, UPMC analytics platforms, etc.)
  • Cleanse and manipulate data as needed to produce analyses
  • Perform application tests to verify that applications comply with requirements.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge and trends, attend education events, and acquire certifications.
  • Support learning and development of other team members
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience
  • Proficiently applies IT methods, professional knowledge, and UPMC standards and best practices
  • Intuitively grasps familiar, stable system performance situations
  • Proactively monitors messaging systems and performance, responding to alerts indicating potential issues
  • Responds to unfamiliar, undefined, unexpected, or unstable situations with the professionally prescribed standard response
  • Recognizes subtle problems with system design or performance and acts appropriately to improve the condition, seeking validation of actions in advance as appropriate
  • Effective in relationships with business partners, professional peers, and other team members
  • Coaches less experienced IT professionals
  • Must meet IT Career Level Criteria for Individual/Team Contributors outlined in the Universal Criteria Leveling Guide

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with healthcare clinical and business issues, behavioral health preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Project management interest or experience
  • Process mapping and evaluation including measuring process components
  • Experience with using business intelligence tools, use/creation of dashboards, and benchmarking
  • Experience defining and performing data cleansing/ETL to meet requirements
  • Tools and platforms:
    • MS Excel as an analytical tool
    • SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, SQL Server
    • REDCap
    • Cerner, Epic
    • SAS
  • Health information management, MBA, or related degree preferred
