Research Associate WPIC

Description

The Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center and the Magnetic Resonance Research Center is seeking a full time Research Associate. Our research program focuses on understanding how sleep and circadian rhythms relate mood and substance use problems in teens and young adults. Our NIH-funded research employs diverse methodologies including ecological momentary assessment (EMA), laboratory-based sleep and circadian measures (e.g., salivary melatonin), and functional neuroimaging.

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

  • A primary responsibility will involve the assisting with the fMRI procedures (data collection, processing, and analysis). This will include instructing participants on how to complete the fMRI tasks and administering the tasks during the fMRI scan at the Magnetic Resonance Research Center (MRRC). This will also include preprocessing the fMRI data performing quality control procedures, and conducing analyses under the supervision of the faculty co-investigator overseeing the fMRI portion of the study.
  • This position will assist in basic data management procedures in collaboration with the data manager.
  • Other responsibilities include assisting with other aspects of participant visits, such as monitoring participants and assisting in data collection during overnight visits to the Sleep and Behavioral Neuroscience Center
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to ensure adequate numbers of assessments as outlined in the protocol.
  • Performs other research duties as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in psychology, neuroscience, sociology, computer science, engineering, or related research field.
  • Previous experience with adolescents and/or families is preferred.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required. Ability to script or program in any computer language is preferred.
  • Prior related work experience in a research setting preferred. Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work evenings (including potentially on some Sundays).

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
