Prior supervisory experience, competency in Microsoft Office, and team-building skills are strongly desired. 

 Purpose:
Supervises pharmacy technicians in the Pharmacy department, assuming responsibility for their work performance and providing oversight of workflow and processes during assigned shift. Supervise the daily operational functions of the department, specifically the Medication Delivery Assistants. Act as liaison between pharmacists, physicians, and other health professionals on matters pertaining to pharmacy operational activities and patient care. Assume supervisory responsibility for department employees engaged in providing pharmacy operational activities to the hospital.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensures high quality, accurate, expedient, and complete pharmacy services for centralized and decentralized operations through the supervision of pharmacy personnel. Works to coordinate daily activities of the pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.
  • Supervises pharmacy technicians in the Pharmacy department, assuming responsibility for their work performance and providing oversight of workflow and processes during assigned shift.
  • In conjunction with Pharmacy Leadership, provides or directs the provision of training necessary to ensure competency of non-professional employees and skills maintenance. Recognizes employee potential and proficiency, and facilitates personal and professional growth.
  • Provides analysis, advice, and recommendations as an individual contributor on smaller projects; may have some project responsibility within the department or across similar departments.
  • Coordinates or performs all pharmacy scheduling activities to ensure adequate coverage to provide quality and efficient pharmacy operational services.
  • Ensures department compliance with all regulatory requirements including JCAHO, Pennsylvania Department of Health, FDA, DEA, and OSHA. Maintains the department in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations with regard to the practice of pharmacy.
  • Oversees the purchasing and inventory control function. Determines drug quantity stock level and ensures adherence to all cost savings initiatives. Ensures compliance with DEA regulations concerning procurement and purchasing of controlled substances.
  • Oversees the packaging, labeling, and distribution of medications for all patients according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Continuously evaluates policies and procedures and is alert to opportunities to improve the quality and extent of pharmacy services.
  • Rewards, disciplines and evaluates direct reports, using independent judgment; provides input into hiring and involuntary termination decisions.
  • Provides input into department's budget; supports the financial goals of Susquehanna Health through individual actions and management of resources.

 

Qualifications

Five years of experience as a pharmacy technician required. Pharmacy Technician Certification required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Pennsylvania Driver's License

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
