University of Pittsburgh Physicians is currently hiring a Regular, Full-Time Bariatric Lifestyle Program Coordinator! This position will work a Monday - Friday daylight schedule.

This position will be responsible for coordinating the functions, resources, and program essentials for the Bariatric Lifestyle Program in order to meet patient care needs. The position incorporates a combination of program management tasks and direct patient care.


  • Assist in developing goals and objectives for the program to maintain high quality care
  • Develop curriculum including formulating and updating patient educational manuals/materials, presentations, coordinating speakers, developing patient surveys.
  • Coordinate and schedule multiple classes related to the program
  • Facilitate classes and function as a resource for patients in the various stages of the program
  • Develop and maintain database of information on the patients to include patient tracking tools.
  • Review data and implement changes to improve patient care
  • Work collaboratively with Department Director and other members of the Bariatric Team in identifying problems, formulating solutions and evaluating the program
  • Provide appropriate lifestyle / nutrition counseling based on patient/family learning needs and abilities
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of current trends and issues in health care, standards and healthcare informatics
  • Work with the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer to capture data on patients in the Lifestyle Program.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other departments and facilities to provide a unified approach to patient care.
  • Oversee the clinical CQI initiatives to assure effective outcomes
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, evaluation and competency of personnel, maintain a quality workforce.
  • Direct and mentor students, peers and support personnel.
  • Lead and encourage professional growth and development for self and clinical team
  • Maintain registration or certification status



  • BS degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with advanced degree in a related field or BS degree with certification as a healthcare Lifestyle Coach.
  • 5 years clinical nutrition or healthcare lifestyle coach experience with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Advanced leadership and motivation skills to develop and evaluate a diverse clinical team.
  • Strong analytical skills to design, implement, enhance and trouble-shoot lifestyle programs and processes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to incorporate current healthcare models into department programs.
  • Function with a high degree of autonomy and use high level decision making to achieve the desired results and effect change.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with other disciplines and organizations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
