Telemedicine Clinical Coordinator

The Telemedicine Clinical Coordinator functions as a liaison to triage and prioritize telestroke referrals between UPMC and participating providers. Implement acute telestroke protocols and transfer in coordination with telestroke provider team, referral center, transfer center, and neurointerventional team as appropriate.  Ensures that high quality clinical services are delivered via telemedicine.



  • Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and communicate effectively and easily with all staff. Must communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultures; must be able to relate to all levels of personnel and departments in a stressful environment. Must be able to demonstrate optimism, enthusiasm, and willingness to work constructively with other health care team members, which reflects concern for the well-being of patients and employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works closely with staff to ensure a timely and accurate reporting system.
  • Assists in the development of outcome measurement and other tools necessary for the success of regional outreach.
  • Develops and implements new areas of clinical utilization for Telehealth activities.
  • Collaborates with medical staff and patients to facilitate safe and effective clinical consultations.
  • Collaborate, communicate, and manager partner facilities and pre-hospitalization services to facilitate successful implementation of telestroke services including transfers. 
  • Familiar with Telehealth equipment, specialized clinical equipment and accessories and can train regional/clinic hospital staff in their proper operation to facilitate successful clinical consultations.
  • Assists in the coordination of clinical planning through active participation in the development and implementation of Telehealth activities.
  • Escalate clinical or provider concerns to questions and requests, or route to appropriate team members (UPP, Quality Manager, Program Director, Medical Director).
  • Contribute to meetings and educational events along with assistance n the development of protocols, procedures as they relate to the use of telemediicine services. 



  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Three years of experience in operational areas of hospitals. Experience in healthcare essential.
  • Stroke experience is strongly preferred
  • Maintain NIHSS
  • Anual stroke competencies 
  • Demonstrated knowledge in PC operation and applicable software.
  • Detail oriented with analytical and comprehensive skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel to other locations as required.
