Patient Care Technician -- Resource Pool (Casual, Nursing Students Only)

Description

Are you interested in working at Magnet designated UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital? Only 7% of hospitals nationwide have achieved Magnet designation… and we’re one of them! For more than a century, UPMC Magee has been caring for patients through all stages of their lives, and we are looking for the next talented employee to join our team.

We are dedicated to providing each patient with the right care, in the right way, at the right time, every time. Patient Care Technicians are essential partners in that mission, enhancing the patient experience at UPMC with positivity and integrity. Nursing support staff give personal care to patients with an emphasis on dignity and respect, striving to make each patient feel as comfortable as possible during their hospital stay. Patient Care Technicians also provide invaluable aid to nurses and doctors on the floor by completing important skilled tasks such as checking vital signs and glucose levels, performing EKGs and blood draws, and much more.

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is hiring Casual Patient Care Technicians to support our Resource Pool. The Resource Pool provides ad hoc staffing solutions for special needs or disruptions in the hospital’s workforce, such as in the case of vacancies, call-offs, and surges in patient census. Resource staff float to all areas of the hospital (including Med-Surg, ICU, PACU, and Emergency Department); Resource staff also opens and staffs overflow units during high census, so a high level of autonomy and self-direction is required. To work in the Resource Pool, you must be especially flexible, knowledgeable, and responsive! Patient care staff in our Resource Pool work on a rotating schedule to ensure 24/7 coverage. Availability for all shifts, including some weekends and holidays, is expected.

You must be a nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation to be considered.
