Description

Our Nursing University Relations & Candidate Engagement team is searching for a temporary Employment Specialist to join the team!  This temporary position works full-time hours, Monday through Friday, with some remote flexibility.  The targeted timeframe for the temporary role is early summer to late fall.

In this role, the temporary Employment Specialist will perform all recruitment, selection, and related responsibilities to the employment process.  This includes program and event planning, application tracking, candidate outreach, and much more.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Ensure that thorough testing; reference checks and physicals have been completed prior to candidates starting employment.
  • Serve as the primary employment consultant for designated departments
  • Choose the most qualified candidates to refer to departments based upon documented objective criteria consistent with the legal requirements, job description, qualifications, and business unit policies in a timelymanner.
  • Review and evaluate candidate applications and/or resume in terms of related experience, education and skill rejecting those not meeting the minimum qualifications on the approved job description.
  • Comply, analyze and prepare reports on the computer and works on special projects as requested.
  • Formulate cost conscious employment advertisements for client departments for publications. Evaluate responses and recommends revisions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information received within the guidelines of professional recruitment in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.Represent UPMC at external and internal functions (i.e., job fairs, UPMC HS sponsored events, etc.), provide the public with information about UPMC and career opportunities.
  • Facilitate job posting system. Confirm job requirements on recruitment request form with those on the approved job description to assure correct requirements are posted.
  • Advise and instruct all levels of management on employment policies, procedures and legal concerns.
  • Conduct employment screening interviews for internal and external applicants, of all levels and types of positions, including management.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED and two years of experience in human resources operations actively handling recruitment preferred.
    • OR Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field required with a preference of one year of human resources operations actively handling recruitment preferred.
    • OR Master's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred.
    • OR successful completion of the UPMC Summer Associates Program/Pittsburgh Fellows Program preferred.
  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience with applicant tracking or HRIS systems is preferred.
