UPMC is hiring a full-time Systems Analyst - Intermediate to support the Decision Support team within the Community Care Behavioral Health (CCBH) business unit. This will be a Monday through Friday daylight role. Due to COVID-19 circumstances, this position is currently remote. However, this position will eventually transition into a hybrid role (with some travel to the office).

 

Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, the Systems Analyst - Intermediate provides experienced analytical services for the Decision Support department. This position is looking for someone who is detail-oriented and possesses strong analytical and reporting skills. Experience working with healthcare data or in a health insurance setting is also preferred.

 


Responsibilities:

  • Business Requirements and Process Analysis - Writes business requirements and designs specific modules or programs within a larger system under direction of an experienced Analyst.
  • Operations Analysis - Independently evaluates documents operational performance, diagnoses issues/incidents, completes service requests/problem resolution for basic / most common business systems or processes.
  • Documents existing workflow/current business processes. Assists in completing service requests. Observes joint application development sessions.
  • Assure quality of information through business case and application level testing; validate test results to initial business needs
  • Highly motivated to apply process improvement (CMMI) to increase product and service quality to achieve business objectives.
  • Provide service to the Prodigo Solutions client community, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
  • Assist with the design and documentation of system functional requirements in formats to facilitate the development of deliverables such as Request for Proposals and/or Information, custom development efforts, project based planning documents such as scope documents and client services communication.
  • Systems Analysis - Drafts technical requirements and designs specific modules or programs within a larger system under direction of an experienced Systems Analyst. Assists with creating prototype designs for low-risk projects. Documents existing workflow/current business processes. May use CASE tools.
  • Systems Integration - Understands and uses data structures, data extraction techniques, and job submission procedures and has the ability to apply them in the development of solutions to systems through the writing of basic system specifications.
  • Design and document system level, IS operations level, and end user level procedures to support business applications.
  • Uses basic analytical methods to analyze and streamline business processes.
  • Provide ongoing troubleshooting, support, and maintenance of production applications; including 24/7 on call coverage.
  • Evaluate and document client needs/business operational processes including current process analysis and proposed revisions to optimize business processes
  • Second and Third Level Support (Including Maintenance Activities) - Independently triage and resolve level 1 and level 2 support issues. Escalate level 3 support issues accordingly.
  • SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) - Have an intermediate understanding of the application development life cycle. Ability to apply those principles to day to day work
  • Application Upgrades and Implementation - Review and validate functionality of application upgrades and implementations. Report back on any problems. Identify new functionality and/or hardware requirements as assigned. Ability to create test plans.
  • Vendor Relationships - Interact with vendors (technical issues, project initiatives) under the direction of more experienced team members as necessary. Assist with issue escalation where applicable.
  • End User Training - Create and review existing training documentation. Facilitate high-level user training sessions independently.
  • Communication - Responsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day to day work and projects.
  • System Integration - Complete assigned tasks related to system integration. Validate testing. Ability to modify existing test plans.
  • Project Management - Create and contributes to project tasks and milestones. Update all project management and time tracking tools accordingly. Ability to take full ownership of a project.
  • Data Quality - Maintain data quality at all times.
  • Report Writing/Analysis - Write, analyze and make modifications to reports either independently for basic requests or under the direction of more experienced team members for more complex requests.
  • Process Improvement - Create and update processes. Ability to contribute to process improvement efforts.
  • Documentation - Complete documentation/flow charting of system builds and maintain team's existing documentation independently. Responsible for validating current documentation. Extract and document customer/business requirements and needs for use by enterprise architecture and engineering teams (network, system, and software).
  • Interactions with Others - Successfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts. Shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary. Mentors less experienced staff.
  • Data Confidentiality/Security - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.
  • Self-Development - Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with more senior members of team, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends. Seeks feedback from senior team members for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviors.

Qualifications

  • Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience as a System Analyst strongly preferred
  • Has advanced knowledge base for an IT professional.
  • Has advanced IT principles and analytical rules that guide their application in practical situations.
  • Able to perform moderate IT procedures and protocols .
  • Position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the stand by period. The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.


Preferred experience:

•    2+ years using Business Intelligence and Analytical Tools like SAS or Tableau
•    Experience with Analyzing Data and Producing Reports
