Description

UPMC Chautauqua is currently hiring a Maintenance Specialist to join their team!  

Purpose:
To perform any installation, maintenance and repair of medical center HVAC equipment and environmental control systems in a manner that provides optimum efficiency, primarily during evening and night shift hours.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Responds to trouble calls on communication and lifesafety systems, such as nurse call system, fire alarm system, radio and telephone communication systems; assesses problems and repairs or calls for additional assistance as necessary to restore proper operation.
  • Operates the environmental control computer to control the HVAC systems to optimize energy management.
  • Performs testing and makes adjustments to the chemical treatment systems for cooling towers, boilers, condensers and hydronic systems, assuring the proper operation of bio-hazard and effluent pollution control systems. Records test results and corrective action taken into the operator's log sheet.
  • Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Operates and repairs the pneumatic tube system to insure continuous operation.
  • Operates, maintains and installs medical center building systems including, but not limited to, heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems, refrigeration, medical gas distribution systems, high and low voltage electrical systems and other mechanical systems. Performs periodic inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment as required by the preventive maintenance program.
  • Repairs medical center patient care equipment, such as beds, wheelchairs, carts, etc.
  • Completes written work reports for the maintenance management system and preventive maintenance system, to include a description of work performed, repairs needed, repairs made, time, parts and material used on each piece of equipment. Informs supervisor of parts, materials, equipment and tools necessary to perform job functions.

 

Qualifications

High School graduate or equivalent with formal technical training in HVAC, mechanical, high and low voltage electrical systems and building maintenance

Four years in HVAC and building maintenance field

This position typically reports to Assistant Director, Physical Plant-HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical & Building Automation Systems May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
