Additionally, this role will fill in as a Health Fitness Technician as needed. 

This position will work primarily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and will work some weekends. This role will travel once weekly to Emporium Wellness, 288 Sizerville Road, Emporium PA.

Purpose:
Provides effective and specific massage therapy to clientele, while continually monitoring the clientele to ensure appropriate therapeutic massage.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains open communications with Director regarding all facets of program implementation
  • Orients new clients to massage treatment, teaching correct knowledge and appropriate massage.
  • Able to identify situations which require prohibiting or terminating exercise
  • Able to identify clients with risk factors requiring further assessment, and refer them to the Director for appropriate intervention
  • Aids in organizing wellness programming when requested.
  • Able to requisition supplies and request maintenance when needed.
  • Periodically reviews massage treatment and makes changes to maintain client needs
  • Displays a positive image of good health and fitness
  • Maintains a positive atmosphere in the exercise environment Understands and maintains client confidentiality
  • Accepts responsibility for attending in-services when requested to do so. Understands emergency procedures.

Health Fitness Technician Responsibilities include:

- Maintain professional, pleasant, and effective communications both internally and externally.

- Participate in the planning and implementation of health education activities and special events.

- Provide factual information on current prices, policies, programs, and services available to various target groups.

- Demonstrate efficient use of time, materials, equipment, supplies, and available resources cost-effectively.

- Perform daily and weekly cleaning maintenance on all equipment according to policies and procedures.

- Perform weekly ordering of supplies necessary to maintain the center.

- Report attendance for the completion of monthly statistical volume reports.

- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationships with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors, and others.

- Exhibit integrity, courtesy, and respect for others.

- Present self in a positive manner reflected by personal attire and etiquette.

- Maintain confidentiality of hospital and department information with no infractions.

- Promote the hospital's image and maintain a positive and helpful attitude toward employees, physicians, visitors, and the community to enhance the hospital's reputation as a health care center.

- Review proper exercise techniques with members; supervise member workouts. Identify and correct unsafe conditions and practices related to exercise participation under the direction of a Health Fitness Specialist.

- Monitor client safety by taking blood pressures, blood glucose, and heart rates, as requested.

- Complete registration and enrollment of new members and class participants.

 - Assist in the development and achievement of departmental goals and objectives.

 

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified massage therapist required. Heart Saver CPR/AED and First Aid required. Knowledge and experience with various massage modalities preferred. Basic understanding of massage therapy and anatomy preferred.

*Previous experience dealing with customer service and fitness background preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Certified Massage Therapist
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
