Lead Hospitalist


Experienced hospitalists seeking an exciting hospital medicine career opportunity are invited to apply for this newly created Lead Hospitalist position. 

This physician will work side by side with a team of 25 physicians and 16 APPs, carrying out the same physician clinical duties; but will offer additional administrative support to the team including:
•    Working cooperatively with the administrative and medical staff at UPMC Altoona and Bedford
•    Supporting quality initiatives and outcomes
•    Fulfilling on-call rotation
•    Serving as back-up for the medical director
•    Modeling UPMC Values
•    Administrative duties as assigned, such as reviewing safety concerns/patient complaints, orienting new physicians, attending meetings

Work schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off, 12-hour shifts, with night call covered by nocturnists. Each physician starting census averages 16-18 adult inpatients per day. Intensivist Service covers ICU. No OB or peds. No procedures, and no responsibility for code response.

•    2-3 years of hospital medicine experience
•    Licensure, Certifications and Clearances:
o    ABIM/AOBIM/ABFM Board Certification 
o    BLS, ACLS Certified
o    Must qualify for a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
