UPMC Health Plan is seeking a Project Analyst!

The Project Analyst will manage projects to update programming to meet DHS requirements, build Microsoft tools for the team to correct denied encounters, and contribute to other process improvement projects tracking projects and documenting processes. This position allows a variety of work, will solve complex problems as well as build new tools-- which means the job is creative and technical at the same time!

 This position will be responsible for monitoring, documenting and reporting progress and performance for defined project objectives and measures as well as for assisting in the development and maintenance of detailed project plans.

During the COVID pandemic, this role is work from home, and will be a hybrid role afterwards. 


  • Communicate with members of UPMC management and staff regarding assigned projects
  • Assist in the development of business cases, work plans, communications, etc.
  • Maintain project documents within approved archival systems.
  • Generate necessary project documentation, including meeting minutes, project deliverables, etc.
  • Handle project administrative duties including scheduling requirements, SharePoint requirements, etc.
  • Advise supervising Project Manager and others of pending due dates.
  • Identify and help resolve potential issues and/or barriers which are critical to the success of a project.



  • B.A. degree required
  • Two (2) years experience (preferred)
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft (building Sharepoint, Powerapps, Access Databases from scratch if possible.)
  • Claims knowledge will make a candidate a standout
  • Project Management experience – (tracking action items and following up with responsible parties from multiple teams - not just managing individual work)
  • Written and oral communication to internal and external audiences. (communication to DHS is more formal than internal email communication)
  • Medicaid knowledge not required, but health insurance or health care experience preferred. (billing/coding, claims processing, provider-side, insurance member services)
  • Process improvement experience like six sigma or lean is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including MS Office Suite
  • Strong problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required
  • Very well organized and deadline conscious.
  • Project Management knowledge and future potential to manage multiple projects required.
