University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Dermatology is hiring a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to support our outpatient clinical locations. The schedule will offer 8-hour shifts, 8a-4:30p.  The position is based on the UPMC Oakland Campus.  The primary role is the same day admission services.  Dermatology or Oncology experience is preferred but not necessary.

The Staff Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a care delivery team member. The Staff APP is responsible for setting the standards for the level and quality of care. The Staff APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for providing care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician, a Director of Cutaneous Lymphoma Program. The role of the Staff APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The Staff APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Staff APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and their healthcare profession.

Specifically, the position presents an opportunity to learn the newest information about the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with rare skin malignancies in the largest Cutaneous Lymphoma center in Western Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will serve as a liaison between the Cutaneous Lymphoma Program Director and nursing staff in the Clinical Trial Research Unit while caring for patients who receive chemotherapy, extracorporeal photopheresis, or treatment as part of their clinical trial. Additionally, the APP will be a sub-investigator on clinical trials conducted within the program and will be involved in ongoing translational research projects. The APP will be responsible for obtaining insurance prior authorization and financial assistance for patients with cutaneous lymphoma receiving specialty medications and assist in cutaneous lymphoma clinic.

The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.  The Department of Dermatology grants the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine Faculty appointments to all Advanced Practice Providers.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the patients served as specified below
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span
  • Possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs
  • Provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures

Special Skills and Abilities Required: 

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment
