Description

UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for a Training Specialist to support the Clinical Training & Development department based out of downtown Pittsburgh at the U.S. Steel Tower. The team is currently working remotely but future in-person meeting attendance in Pittsburgh may be periodically required.

The Training Specialist is responsible for planning, designing, coordinating, and delivering training for Community HealthChoices (CHC) staff including training on Helios, the InterRAI, & other clinical databases needed to support CHC participants.


Responsibilities:

  • Delivers training related to the Helios clinical information system 
  • Assist in training with Mental Health First Aid.
  • Prepares training materials for upcoming sessions. Assures that all learners have access to electronic training materials.
  •  Prepares educational documents related to workflows and enhancements. Assures that the Helios training manual is up to date and changes are adequately tracked.
  • Works with the CHC operations team to coordinate onboarding activities.
  • Maintains work activity reports, employee training profiles, and submits reports as required. Responsible for assisting with the completion of the monthly director’s report.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of electronic education materials for individual self-learning.
  • Assist in the development of new materials by attending process flow meetings or participating in system testing.
  • Coordinates all aspects of the training process, including industry research materials development, program delivery, testing, and assessment.
  • Keep track of annual review for all training materials currently utilized by the department. Assist with facilitating the review and potential revision of these materials.
  • Sends out surveys to assess the effectiveness of the training department.
  • Assembles and implements departmental policy and procedure and standard operating guidelines
  • Produce quick tips, memos, and other training documentation as required to provide up-to-date information related to system enhancements and modifications.
  • Responsible for maintaining the CHC training SharePoint site, drives, and placement of educational materials.  
  • Responsible for tracking all training rosters for audit and review purposes. Including online attendance and employee participation documentation.
  • Maintains a positive classroom environment for staff members, to support the experience, skill, knowledge, and capabilities of employees.
  • Makes recommendations to management regarding new program requirements and costs.
  • Maintain training calendar and responsibility for creating Microsoft Teams meeting invites.
  • Completes special projects and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, or other related field preferred
  • 2 years of direct experience in Managed Care and/or Indemnity environment with at least 1 year of experience in delivery of staff training programs or related experience. 
  • Experience in methods and techniques of adult education with demonstrated success. 
  • Experience in mental health and substance use disorders preferred.
  • Experience in Medicaid waivers strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skills. 
  • Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making abilities. 
  • Expert process and project management skills required. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office & Teams products is essential.
