Sr. Compliance Consultant, International


UPMC International is looking for a Sr. Compliance Consultant.  In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing a thorough understanding of UPMC policies, regulatory environment and implementing international policies as required for applicable UPMC employees and other applicable international relationships. Reviewing and/or auditing compliance with policies based on internal risk analysis and/or at the request of Executive Management within UPMC.
  • Navigating internal and external databases to mine information and ensure appropriate enforcement of UPMC policies. Engaging in initiative for compliance education and training completion across UPMC owned entities.
  • Assisting country leadership in establishing and maintaining compliance policies, procedures and tools to support compliance activities. Assisting country leadership in planning, developing and presenting educational and training materials related to specific compliance topics, including annual mandatory training modules to be utilized across the UPMC organization.
  • Assisting country leadership on special projects, as assigned. Contributing to ongoing departmental goals.
  • Other support responsibilities may include assisting in meeting various regulatory requirements related to government agencies, including those imposed under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Provide investigatory and research support for the UPMC International Compliance committee.
  • Provide guidance and support to country leadership throughout the International division. Monitor and report on applicable Compliance Helpline (hotline), Exit Interviews, related matters and other miscellaneous compliance projects, as assigned.
  • Perform special chart reviews as assigned and provide associated research to assess compliance with identified international standards. Participate in the design and development of new dashboards, reports, and ad-hoc report requests.
  • Responsible for assisting in the completion of special projects, which may include audit spreadsheet development, as necessary. Maintain knowledge and comprehensive understanding of auditing principles, processes, and methodologies.



The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's Degree (Master's or above preferred), in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, Informatics or Law
  • A minimum of 5 years of health care, compliance, contract or other related work experience.  Experience in an academic medical center or university setting and/or international regulatory management preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm and initiative.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences.
  • Proficiency with associated technology solutions such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access Preferred.
  • Technical acumen and the ability to learn and identify best practices relating to policy structure, and experience researching and interpreting regulation and performing internal investigations.
  • Attention to detail is critical to the success of this position, as is the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities are a must.
