Support Staff Specialist

Description

Purpose:
Coordinates the clerical functions performed at the front desk, file room transcribing and darkroom areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the daily department functions, ensuring appropriate staffing, patient flow, supplies and equipment utilization.
  • Provide an interface between outside physician office staff and radiology clerical staff.
  • Transcribe correspondence, meeting minutes, and policy and procedure manual.
  • Assist with the information system needs from the clerical aspects.
  • Assists in performing responsibilities of Radiology Clerk and Radiology Associate.
  • Input data for monthly statistical reporting.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors, and others.
  • Arrange for equipment repair and routine maintenance.
  • Assist in developing office departmental capital and operating expense budgets.
  • Provide in-service and orientation training for new employees; participate in the ongoing education of the staff and completion of hospital in-service programs.
  • Maintain departmental policy and procedure manual; transcribe correspondence and departmental meeting minutes.
  • Assists in talent acquisition interviews for successful recruitment of technologist candidates and provides feedback for annual performance reviews.
  • Assumes the leadership role in the absence of the supervisor
  • *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • *Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Courses in typing, office procedures, Excel, and Business English preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited secretarial program preferred.
  • 5 years secretarial and computer experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and transcribing equipment.
  • 2 years of office management (supervisory) experience.
  • Must possess good oral and written skills, must be able to communicate with hospital contacts both on the telephone and directly, and effectively communicate with all age groups, populations, and individuals within the hospital.
  • Must become familiar with the hospital computer system.
