Quality Analyst - Intermediate (Analytics and Outcomes)

Description

Purpose:

The Analytics and Outcomes Department partners with clinical and business leaders and staff to improve processes and tools, develop insightful analyses, support benchmarking and regulatory reporting requirements, and continuously improve the overall analytics capabilities of the organization.

The Quality Analyst - Intermediate position requires excellent analytical skills to develop analyses and data visualizations based on disparate information, validates and presents results, partners with clinical and operational staff to highlight opportunities for process improvements, defines requirements and use cases, assists with managing projects, and generally provides services to meet clinical and business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop analyses and data visualizations using available tools such as Microsoft Excel, based on data from a variety of sources (eg Epic, Cerner, UPMC analytics platforms, etc.)
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve ability to report on executive, regulatory, and internal metrics/KPIs
  • Cleanse and manipulate data as needed to produce analyses
  • Develop and maintain measurement tools (e.g. REDCap surveys)
  • Perform application tests to verify that applications comply with requirements.
  • Work with clinical, operational, and technical staff to identify problems and propose solutions
  • Participate in quality improvement efforts.
  • Maintain project planning documents, prepare materials, and write and distribute high level workflow documents
  • Ensure that the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information is protected through physical and electronic measures.
  • Support learning and development of other team members
  • Perform in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Typically has completed a four-year academic degree including courses in computer programming, systems analysis, system development, or systems engineering OR has acquired Core IT skills and knowledge via practical experience
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of the fundamental tools and concepts of one of the information technology professional disciplines (i.e., Applications, Business Analysis, Customer Service, Data, Networking, Operations, Security, Systems Engineering, etc.) and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a particular UPMC department or function
  • Must meet IT Career Level Criteria for Individual/Team Contributors outlined in the Universal Criteria Leveling Guide

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with healthcare clinical and business issues, behavioral health preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Project management interest or experience
  • Process mapping and evaluation including measuring process components
  • Use/creation of dashboards and benchmarking
  • Tools and platforms:
  • MS Excel as an analytical tool
  • MS Excel Macros
  • SQL
  • REDCap
  • Cerner, Epic
  • Health information management, MBA, or related degree preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
