The Team:

UPMC Health Plan's Strategic Consumer Innovation group is committed to delivering human-centered solutions at the intersection of design, technology, health care and wellness. We are currently scaling the product management and digital innovation practice with an emphasis on consumer-facing mobile applications.


The Position:

The Senior Digital Product Analysts at UPMC Health Plan will leverage their expert problem solving and analytical skills to maximizing the value we deliver to our users through our product delivery process, focusing on requirements, releases, and product performance. This role is essential to leading our development teams as well as supporting and informing our product roadmaps.



  • Creates product requirements with input from business stakeholders, product management, user experience design, engineering, and quality assurance teams.
  • Prioritizes and maintains product backlog with the goal of maximizing business and user value.
  • Operates confidently as a product owner within an Agile Scrum team--preparing for Agile ceremonies and supporting team through development sprints.
  • Establishes and evolves best practices for product delivery process.
  • Serves as a player-coach to other digital product analysts.
  • Defines business analytics, metrics, and KPIs to measure product success, adoption and performance.
  • Applies market and product expertise to identify and inform user requirements.
  • Participates in all phases of the product development including early-stage discovery through completion focusing specifically on delivery.
  • Partners with business stakeholders to define requirements and facilitate user acceptance testing.
  • Presents product features to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Maintains product documentation including process flows, diagrams, and feature maps.
  • Approves product releases and Beta programs.
  • Challenges the status quo and proactively removes impediments by recommending new and alternative approaches.
  • Applies knowledge of evolving trends in mobile technology and platforms.
  • Collaborates with internal teams to solve problems and identify trends/opportunities.
  • Informs, influences, and supports product decisions and development.
  • Works on mid to large-sized projects with minimal oversight.
  • *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • *Performs other duties as assigned.



  • BA/BS in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience. MS or PhD preferred
  • 5 years professional experience.
  • Familiarity with business issues, or the ability to quickly learn.
  • Understanding of health care
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities
  • Product management/design experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and familiarity with PowerPoint.
  •  Ability to own and drive own work stream.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with and manage internal and external stakeholders, including business operations and executives as needed.
  • Analytical and financial modeling experience, including use of ExcelProactive in setting milestones, work planning, and delivering on commitments
  • Positive can-do attitude
