Description

UPMC is currently hiring a Credentialing Assistant to join their team!  This position will work full time Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

Purpose:
Assists Supervisor, Credentialing by accurately preparing submissions of all new providers. Prep all items on the credentialing check list for the Suprversior's review. Handle basic calls from RHS Physician practices. Enter new data and updates into the credentialing software system accurately and precisely.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrates UPMC Hamot's commitment to service excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Assists with data input and verification of appropriate paperwork as necessary.
  • Processing daily incoming and outgoing mail and filing.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all provider information to protect all provider files.
  • Maintains and updates in CAQH system.
  • Accurately and efficiently scan current credentials files and new applicant credentials files into credentialing software to include routine additions to and maintenance of files.
  • Accepts responsibility for personal and professional growth. Attends department meetings (unless otherwise excused). Participates in RHS and/or UPMC Hamot activities and inservices. Arrives at workstation ready to work at scheduled time (i.e. start of shift, breaks, lunch, etc.)
  • Responsible for accurately maintaining the Physician credentialing files and all pertinent records and related documentation for the insurance credentialing process. Insures that physician files are checked regularly for completeness and can locate requested files quickly from these areas. Assembles all physician files following established processes.
  • Responsible for recording all new and re-credentialing information and updates (such as malpractice insurance information, demographic changes, etc.) within the credentialing data base accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Answers telephone calls, transfers calls to appropriate individual or department and distributes telephone and/or other messages.

 

Qualifications

High School Graduate or Equivalent

Three years previous billing/accounts receivable experience in Healthcare facility or Physician office setting.

Previous credentialing experience preferred.

Extremely detail oriented and accurate. Should be proficient with credentialing and billing rules and regulations. Operating knowledge of basic business office equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in working on computer systems. Intermediate skill level of computer skills to include Microsoft Word and ExcelWork requires interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with a wide range of people, exchange information on factual matters, understand and transmit instructions. Interactions require exceptional customer service skills and basic common courtesy. Must have ability to work independently, prioritize and organize several projects/assignments. Highly Organized. Extremely Confidential. Work independently with little direction.
