UPMC Health Plan's Strategic Consumer Innovation group is committed to delivering engaging, human-centered solutions at the intersection of design, technology, health care and wellness. We are currently growing the product management and innovation practice for our member engagement portfolio.The Product Manager will work with a dynamic technical team on a portfolio of innovative mobile products and features that help members manage their health and associated costs.

Our Product Managers bridge cross-functional disciplines, balancing business, technical and design constraints to bring products to market that will define the future of health care. Product Managers must feel comfortable working in a dynamic, sometimes ambiguous environments. They must leverage commercial expertise and critical thinking skills to distill the complexity inherent to health care's most confounding problems. They must also thoughtfully translate problems into solutions, that can take shape as disruptive businesses and ultimately, actionable product roadmaps

Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with interdisciplinary teams and across functional departments, including engineering, design, program management, marketing and finance teams to carry out strategic plan for assigned product(s) or domain(s)
  • Leads the definition, design and construction of products that delight consumers and compel them to engage despite an abundance of alternatives and distractions
  • Produces requirements that tell concise business stories using data-driven, evidence-based, and human-centered arguments
  • Manages roadmaps that communicate prioritization and trade-offs among customer experience, performance, and operational support load
  • Builds buy-in for the product or company from both external and internal stakeholders
  • Utilizes experiments and leads prototype development to technically vet and test concepts with groups that represent our members
  • Serves as point-person between stakeholders and organizations, and liaison between UPMC Health Plan and external entities
  • Engages with Subject Matter Experts for in-depth evaluation (business, design, clinical, operational, etc.)
  • Proactively identifies and resolves strategic issues that may impair the teams ability to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals
  • Develops and presents business cases (including financial analysis, likelihood of success, ROI, market potential, etc.), roadmaps, and product development recommendations to leadership and cross-functional committees
  • Communicates activities, statuses, issues, and accomplishments to management and partners as needed.
  • Identifies meaningful components of market and competitive landscape analysis to inform product decisions
  • Manages direct reports when assigned
  • *Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • *Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree required. 

5 years professional experience, direct management experience.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrates fluency with agile/lean methods.

Commercial software expertise, developing web products and technologiesUnderstanding of health care IT industry.

Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong technical abilities.

Shows working knowledge across multiple functional areas such as product management, engineering, design, and market research but also exhibits depth in a relevant discipline. E.g., T-shaped individuals
