Description

The Prevention/Education department at Twin Lakes Center works with area schools and the community to promote healthy drug-free living. Frequent collaboration with Somerset County Drug-Free communities and DUI services. Grant-funded through the local Single County Authority (SCA).

The hire for this position must have a high school diploma or GED. Bachelors level education and prior experience with prevention programs preferred. Must have two years experience in drug and alcohol field. Should be comfortable connecting with the community and public speaking.

The schedule for this position is 830a-4p, with some flexibility to cover weekend or evening events as planned. This is a remote position. The dress code is business casual.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervision of prevention department according to established state, Twin Lakes Center, and departmental guidelines.
  • Project positive employee relations atmosphere, using knowledge and skill development in problem solving with employees.
  • Develop and annually updates departmental policy and procedure manual, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies, i.e., DDAP, PA Department of Health.
  • Participate in development of goals and objectives based on results of the Somerset County Drug and Alcohol Prevention Profile.
  • Facilitate, develop, or coordinate prevention education services based on goals and objectives, utilizing six federal prevention strategies.
  • Utilize knowledge of systems, practices, resources, and cultural dynamics to build community partnerships and coalitions and involve Twin Lakes Center directly as much as it applies.
  • Maintain Prevention Based Performance System (PBPS) to provide framework for program development, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Prepare and submit monthly activity summaries to funding sources.
  • Support local, state and federal efforts that affect alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs policies and legislation.
  • Participate and maintain membership in Prevention Organizations.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relations with community agencies, schools, government, and funding sources.
  • Provide articles and updates for social networking on the Twin Lakes Center website, the Drug-Free Communities facebook page and TLC Stepping It Up Newsletter.
  • Provides technical assistance to Somerset County community and schools as requested.
  • Disseminate information through seminars, workshops, speaking engagements health fairs, and other public awareness events in the community and also to Twin Lakes Center staff.
  • Assumes special projects as assigned by supervisor.
  • Annual employment evaluation and competency evaluation on all Prevention Specialists.
  • Market Twin Lakes Center and DFC in all engagements as appropriate.
  • Work directly with Somerset County DUI Coordinator to improve and implement DUI education programs.
  • Develop and demonstrate competency in dealing with co-occurring conditions and utilize this knowledge in every aspect of work related activity.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Service related field preferred.
  • Certified Prevention Specialist preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in drug and alcohol field required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
