Description

UPMC Hamot is currently hiring a full time Electrician Lead to join their team!  This position will work 1st shift 6:30 a.m. to 3 pm.  

Purpose:
To support Facilities department supervisors, providing optimum efficiencies in support of Facilities Engineering goals. To function in the lead role for other staff members.Installs, maintains and repairs electrical systems and equipment in accordance with established standards and codes in a manner that will insure optimum efficiency, attractiveness and safety of the environment.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for insure all preliminary medium and large scale project construction drawings are reviewed for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintains inventory, compiles materials needed for assigned work, cares for and maintains assigned medical center tools and equipment; serves as leader of assigned projects.Responsible for sub-departments purchasing of required materials, tools and equipment.Acts as lead on specific projects and assigns specific work tasks to staff. Also fields and responds to day to day issues from staff.
  • Oversight of Preventative maintenance schedules and assigning of personnel to do work.Provides feedback on staff for performance reviews and evaluations.
  • Maintains effective communication with Facilities Engineering, contractors, vendors and other medical center personnel.
  • Additional Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms a variety of electrical installations and maintenance including general wiring, conduit, electrical lighting fixtures, receptacles and high and low voltage distribution systems.Repairs, adjusts, regulates or rebuilds all electrical equipment and appliances.Tests and inspects the emergency generators and associated controls and logs results of tests on same. Performs ongoing inspections and preventive maintenance on medical center electrical equipment as assigned.Maintains inventory of supplies and parts and completes requisitions and other daily paperwork as required.Keeps abreast of new developments in the field and actively partakes in related training and educational programs.
  • Assumes responsibilities for sub-department when departmental manager is not present or available.Primary responsible party for managing emergent situations and reporting back to departmental manager.
  • Knowledge / skills mix, to serve as a resource for Facilities employees.Ability to provide a succession route for the department. Supports manager in fulfilling departmental goals. Supports Facilities management in providing proper staffing schedules.

 

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent with one year of vocational training.

Five years experience in a trades related field. 2 additional years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of formal training.

Must be able to read schematic drawings and construction blueprints. Knowledge of building codes and procedures as they pertain to hospital construction required. Appropriate skills mix to provide leadership to the appropriate discipline. Strong work ethic, self-starter, needs to be focused in this working position. Able to maintain individual leadership development and be supportive of staff education. Able to make sound departmental task decisions. Able to maintain confidentiality and trustworthiness in sensitive issues

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Minimum of Current City of Erie Apprentice license
