Description

Are you a motivated IT Project Manager who has managed and organized complex IT projects? If so then we want you on our team! UPMC's Office of Health Care Innovation team (OHI) is hiring an IT Project Manager. This is a regular full-time position that primarily works daylight hours, Monday through Friday.

The role of the IT Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources, gathering technical requirements, and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors, consultants and partners in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

The Office of Health Care Innovation (OHI):  Functions at the intersection of clinical care and research to enhance UPMC’s position as a world leader in the delivery of patient care. The OHI’s goal is to create a culture of “Learning While Doing”, by leveraging the UPMC system as a learning lab to continuously evaluate and adopt best care practices, with a particular focus on underserved communities, while paving the way for UPMC to become a leading Learning Health Care System. The OHI team works across disciplines at UPMC and Pitt, and partners with leading international experts in trial design, artificial intelligence, and clinical operations to translate and integrate research into clinical care

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership/Development - Ability to organize, manage, and lead the project team to sucess. Supports project team members and colleagues. Builds strong relationships with colleagues and IT partners. Skillfully handles situations and creates positive outcomes. Demonstrates self-awareness. Provides mentoring and support to others in areas of expertise.
  • Relevant Technical/Business Knowledge - Experience in a similar technical/industry. Demonstrates financial awareness. Working knowledge of analytical and problem-solving techniques and tools.
  • Communication - Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including summaries, presentations, and executive reports.
  • Process Oriented - Utilizes organizational and PMO processes and standards to provide consistent and excellent project management services. Understands the need and value to continually define and/or improve processes.
  • Project Planning and Management - Experienced in planning and managing project scope, schedules, resources, budget, issues, and risks. Understands need and value of attention to detail. Proactively identifies and addresses project risks. Utilizes change management to control scope and communicate scope changes. Tracks and reports project progress, and forecast trends.
  • Client Relationships - Understands project objectives, and business value, from the user's point of view. Is customer focused. Builds trusted relationships with users.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, with 2+ years of professional experience in a project implementation capacity.
  • PMP, PgMP, or other related certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous experience with coordinating IT projects - compile project status reports, manage project schedules and meetings, gather technical requirements, identify and resolve technical/business challenges associated with assigned projects


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PMP certification preferred
