Purpose:
Responsible for working with patients by telephone in a fast-paced Communication Center environment by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule new/return patients with appropriate physicians. Schedule required diagnostic tests.
  • Answer incoming calls in a timely and efficient manner.  Confirm patient appointment date, time, and location. 
  • Respond to requests for general information and screen incoming calls referring them to appropriate individuals.
  • Gather/verify and record demographic, financial, and insurance information on each patient/family member/guarantor during the scheduling process.
  • Prior experience with EPIC.  Enter information in the EPIC system
  • Act as a reference for any patient questions handles when possible, and follow up to assure that each patient inquiry has been satisfied.
  • Request assistance from clinical staff if there is a question of the severity of illness or symptoms. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude characterized by caring, concern, and support for patients, visitors, medical staff, and co-workers. 

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience working in a physician's office or medical field required.  Associates degree required in lieu of experience.
  • Experience in a telephone communication center preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
 

  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
