Purpose:
Responsible for working with patients by telephone in a fast-paced Communication Center environment by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule new/return patients with appropriate physicians. Schedule required diagnostic tests.
- Answer incoming calls in a timely and efficient manner. Confirm patient appointment date, time, and location.
- Respond to requests for general information and screen incoming calls referring them to appropriate individuals.
- Gather/verify and record demographic, financial, and insurance information on each patient/family member/guarantor during the scheduling process.
- Prior experience with EPIC. Enter information in the EPIC system
- Act as a reference for any patient questions handles when possible, and follow up to assure that each patient inquiry has been satisfied.
- Request assistance from clinical staff if there is a question of the severity of illness or symptoms.
- Maintain a positive attitude characterized by caring, concern, and support for patients, visitors, medical staff, and co-workers.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two years of experience working in a physician's office or medical field required. Associates degree required in lieu of experience.
- Experience in a telephone communication center preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 90 days
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
