Gift Shop Clerk I-UPMC Mercy Full-Time


UPMC Mercy is hiring a Full-Time Gift Shop Clerk at our Pittsburgh, PA location!

Schedule: Monday - Friday 9:30a.m.-6:00p.m. Weekends only on an as needed basis!

Provides prompt, courteous service to the customers of the gift shop.



  • Maintain quality control of outgoing merchandise.
  • Assist customers with gift/flower suggestions and refers any customer complaints to Manager of Clerk II.
  • Work weekends, evenings or holidays as needed.
  • Stock candy, magazines and merchandise on a daily basis as necessary.
  • Operate cash register and Lottery machine, opens and closes Shop.
  • Inform Manager or Clerk II when stock items or supplies are low in need of re-ordering.
  • Maintain shop (i.e. dusting, cleaning, rubbish removal) to ensure a safe and aesthetic environment.
  • Conform to The Basics of Service Excellence as described in the hospital's orientation program.
  • Answer any incoming phone calls and directs calls appropriately.
  • Receive incoming merchandise, check invoices, unpack and assist with pricing as directed by Manger or Clerk II.
  • Count change bank, Lottery bank and reconciles Lottery receipts at end of day when closing.



  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 year of experience in retail sales (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings or holidays.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
