Somerset Health Services is hiring a Full Time Radiology Technologist to support the Orthopedics physician practice in Somerset, PA!

The shift of this position is Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The practice is not open on holidays or weekends.


Carries out radiology job duties and responsibilities under the direct supervision of the practice physicians and/or radiologist. The Radiologic Technologist operates radiographic equipment to produce radiographs of the body for diagnostic purposes, assists patients to the examination rooms and processes a variety of information necessary to provide patient care. Other duties, include but are not limited to, answering the phones, assist in staffing the reception and discharge areas.


  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Maintains assigned area in a clean and orderly manner. Assures the proper care of equipment and supplies.
    • Regularly attends in-service programs. Assists in orientation of new employees.
    • Knowledgeable of office policies and procedures.
    • Assists with other duties and activities as assigned by the Physician Director.
  • Maintains strict patient privacy and protects patients' confidential information.
  • Is responsible for making sure all DME is signed out in a correct manner and forms for the same are filled out and taken to the front desk. Assists in restocking DME.
  • Orders supplies for the exam rooms and restocks the exam rooms as necessary. Restocks medications as necessary.
  • Assumes responsibility for reporting any matters that may adversely affect patient care of the medical office to the Physician Director.
  • Assures processing of all forms related to assigned responsibilities.
  • Assists in assuring patients have everything required for departure (receipts, prescriptions, patient education instruction, referral appointments, etc.
  • Assists with surgery scheduling as necessary.
  • Assists in maintaining patient's charts, filing appropriate reports, etc.
  • Assists in scheduling diagnostic testing, referral, appointments including rehab, surgery, etc.
  • Assists in preparing specimens in accordance with established laboratory procedures.
  • Takes a minimum of three vital signs on all new patients (height, weight, temp, blood pressure, respirations).
  • Assists physician as needed during patient examinations, treatments and procedures. Draws up injections as directed by the provider.
  • Collects all the pertinent history and records it in the patient's chart, assuring all medications and allergies are updated at each visit and making sure consents are signed and up-to-date.
  • Prepares examination rooms, escorts patients to examination rooms nd prepares them for examination/treatment.
  • Monitors waiting patients and assists to maintain patient flow and resolve delays.
  • Assists in receiving incoming telephone calls. Responds to requests for basic information. Routes calls to appropriate personnel and takes messages as necessary.
  • Assists in greeting patients and visitors and verifies patient information according to current system upon registration.
  • Collects all testing results, physical therapy progress notes and any other pertinent information prior to the patient's scheduled appointment assuring there will be no delay in care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill to provide patient care and education appropriate to the age of the patient served (newborn to geriatric).
  • Uses time effectively to expedite patient flow and minimize patient wait times.
  • Brings up studies on the computer for the physician and provides comparison studies.
  • Prepares patient films/records for physician and radiologist interpretation.
  • Uses correct protocols and procedures to complete radiology studies.
  • Properly positions film and patients for radiology studies.
  • Prepares radiology room and equipment for x-rays studies and disinfects room after each patient.
  • Prepare patients for radiology studies by obtaining clinical history; not pregnant, history of injury, etc.



  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Radiologic Technology.
  • At least two years radiology experience in a radiology setting.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Licensed by the American Registry of Radiographic Technology or has passed the Pennsylvania State Board of Medicine Limited Examination in Radiology.
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
