Description

UPMC is actively hiring for an Associate Network Security Engineer to join their Network Security Team. The Network Security team is responsible for providing and managing network security design, operations, and application delivery enterprise-wide. They also provide next-generation perimeter firewall management, F5 application delivery, and network security tools for cyber threat prevention and detection

The Associate Network Security Engineer is responsible for the daily operations of securing the data transport network. This individual will be responsible for the implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, and they will enforce network security policies and compliance activities. This is an entry-level position within Network Security. The candidate is expected to have a solid understanding of core IT knowledge in networking and firewalls

Responsibilities:

  • Triage issues and escalate to Network Security SME's and Management as necessary
  • Conduct Network Security operations, including: Firewall exception processing Password Changes Tier 2 troubleshooting
  • Manage: Palo Alto, Juniper and Cisco firewalls Site-to-Site VPN's DDoS Network Admission Control
  • Deploy new firewalls and Site-to-Site VPN's
  • Create new Managed Objects for DDoS prevention
  • Maintain electronic documentation: Network diagrams Processes / Procedures Inventory (CMDB)

Qualifications

  • Typically has a 2-year academic degree and knowledge of Network Security through education or practical work experience.
  • Understanding of: TCP/IP Network & Application Layer Firewall technologies.
  • Ability to: Manage complex firewall policies Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Participate in the On-Call rotation
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Knowledge in API security is a plus
  • Palo Alto experience is a plus 
  • Networking experience/knowledge 
This is a remote opportunity with office space available when needed in Pittsburgh, PA

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Associate: An entry-level certification (Cisco CCENT, Security+, Palo Alto PCCSA, etc.) is preferred or other approved IT certificate.
